Mermaid to draw.io
Write Mermaid, switch the format to draw.io, and save a .drawio file for diagrams.net. Shapes, labels and arrows are carried over, the layout is computed for you, and nothing is uploaded.
Convert Mermaid in the editor Free. No sign-up. Nothing is uploaded.

This Mermaid flowchart becomes a draw.io file. An excerpt of the generated cells (the decision and one branch):

How it works
- Paste your Mermaid into the editor.
- Switch the format to draw.io. Diamonds, rounded ends and edge labels such as yes and no are kept.
- Use Export, Source file to save the .drawio file and open it in draw.io.
This works for diagrams made of boxes and arrows: flowcharts, class, state, ER diagrams and mind maps. Mermaid sequence and Gantt diagrams are refused with an explanation, because draw.io has no matching structure to place them in.
Good to know
- LayoutComputed automatically by Graphviz. Drag boxes in the preview to adjust, the position is saved into the text.
- StylingMermaid themes and classDef colors are not carried over and are listed in the loss report.
- Back againSwitching straight back restores your original Mermaid text exactly.
Private by design
Rendering and converting both run inside your browser. The page is not allowed to open connections to other servers, so your diagram text is not uploaded. Your work is kept in your browser's local storage only. Details are in the privacy policy.
Questions
Does draw.io open the file without problems?
The export is plain, uncompressed draw.io XML with ordinary shapes and connectors. If something looks off, tell us through the feedback link.
Is the conversion lossless?
No format pair is. The loss report tells you what was not carried over. Converted results are provided as is. Check the preview and the list of what was not carried over before you rely on them.
